JVZoo affiliate marketing guide

JVZoo affiliate marketing from the tracking side: how the program works and pays, what tid and vtid do, how to set up a server-to-server postback, and what to check when a sale JVZoo paid you for never reaches your tracker.

The short answer

The JVZoo affiliate program is free to join. You request approval for each product, promote its front-end link, and JVZooPay pays your commissions every 3 days to 3 weeks depending on your level.

To know which ad or page earned each sale, add a tracking ID to the link with tid and have JVZoo send it back in a server-to-server postback. Most "missing" JVZoo sales come down to that tid: absent, too long, or never filled in.

This guide is for affiliates promoting other people's products on JVZoo. If you sell your own product there, start with the JVZoo review for vendors instead. JVZoo's rules below come from its own FAQ and help center, opened on 19 October 2026. We make ElasticFunnels, which receives JVZoo postbacks, and I say where it fits near the end.

How the JVZoo affiliate program works

  • Joining is free. JVZoo's FAQ says there's no cost to join and no monthly fee for affiliates. It lists more than 1.2 million registered affiliates.
  • You're approved per product. You request a product and its vendor approves or denies you. Vendors can auto-approve affiliates they trust, and JVZoo's "Premium Affiliates", picked on sales, refund rate and traffic quality, can be approved instantly.
  • Approval covers the funnel. Once you're approved on the front end, you're approved for every upsell behind it. JVZoo asks you to send only the front-end link, so buyers see the whole funnel and you're credited on it (JVZoo, funnel approval).
  • The vendor sets the commission. JVZoo's FAQ says 50% to 75% is common on digital products. Some vendors pay a fixed amount per sale instead (CPA), which JVZoo only allows after a product has run on revenue share for 60 days.

JVZooPay payout levels

Commissions are paid through JVZooPay. How often depends on your level, which is set by account age, sales and refund rate.

JVZooPay levelPaid everyTo qualify
Diamond3 days1+ year, 2,000+ sales, refunds under 5%
Platinum5 days9+ months, 1,500+ sales, refunds under 7%
Gold7 days7+ months, 500+ sales, refunds under 9%
Silver2 weeks, 20% rolling reserve6+ months, 250+ sales, refunds under 11%
Bronze3 weeks, 25% rolling reserveNew, or under 6 months and 250 sales

New accounts start on probation and are reviewed before the first payout (JVZoo FAQ). A refund takes the commission back, so your refund rate decides your level as much as your sales do.

tid vs vtid on JVZoo links

JVZoo counts clicks on your link, but its help page is plain that it "tracks clicks, but not referral pages". To know which promotion sold, you add a tracking ID.

JVZoo affiliate link anatomy: the link JVZoo gives you, then a tid tracking ID added on the end that JVZoo sends back in reports and postbacks
A JVZoo affiliate link with a tid: the link JVZoo gives you stays as it is, and the tid you add on the end comes back in your reports and postbacks.
  • tid is yours as the affiliate. Add ?tid= and a short label (or your tracker's click ID) to the end of your affiliate link. JVZoo shows sales per tid on your Affiliate Transactions page and returns it in your postbacks.
  • vtid is the vendor's. Sellers add it to their own buy buttons to see which of their promotions sold. As an affiliate you never set it.

Mind the format. JVZoo's tracking-ID article, last updated in 2022, says a tid is "up to 24 characters long and can only include lowercase letters and numbers". Its newer postback guide (August 2026) says to pass click IDs longer than 26 characters in a sub ID instead, where {sub_id1} to {sub_id5} take up to 512 characters each (tracking IDs, S2S tracking). If your tracker's click IDs are long, use the sub ID route.

ClickBank uses the same tid name on its affiliate links, so the habit carries over; how ClickBank's tid and fees compare is covered from the vendor side.

How to set up a JVZoo postback

A postback is JVZoo's server calling your tracker's URL when you earn a commission. It's a server-to-server call, so it doesn't depend on cookies or a pixel loading in the buyer's browser.

JVZoo affiliate postback flow: a click on your page, the affiliate link with tid, the sale on JVZoo, then the S2S postback with tid and commission
The JVZoo affiliate postback round trip: the tid leaves on your link and comes back from JVZoo's server with your commission, so the sale lands on its click.
  1. In JVZoo, open My Account, Account Details, scroll to Affiliate Settings and click Manage S2S Postbacks.
  2. Click Add New Postback, name it after the tracker, and pick the type: Purchase fires when a sale completes, Initiated when your visitor lands on the checkout page.
  3. Paste your tracker's postback URL with JVZoo's placeholders in it. The ones that matter most: {tid} for the click, {affiliate_amount} for your commission, {transaction_id} and {transaction_type}, which is SALE or RFND.
  4. Set the status to Active and choose the product scope: all products you promote, or specific ones.
  5. Decide on the filters: exclude refunded transactions, or exclude zero-commission sales. Leave refunds in if you want your tracker's numbers to net them out.
  6. Save, make a test purchase or wait for the first sale, and open the postback's log.

A JVZoo purchase postback for a tracker looks like this, with your tracker's own domain and parameter names:

https://tracker.example.com/postback?clickid={tid}&payout={affiliate_amount}&txid={transaction_id}&type={transaction_type}

The postback URL guide explains the round trip in general, with a worked example for a tracker.

JVZoo sales missing from your tracker

JVZoo paid the commission, but the tracker shows nothing. Work down this list in order: the first items cause most cases.

JVZoo affiliate missing sales checklist: tid on the link, no raw macro, ID length, last cookie, front-end link and the postback log
When a JVZoo affiliate sale is missing from your tracker, check these in order: the tid comes first, the postback settings after it.
  1. The link had no tid. A link copied without it, or shortened and stripped, gives JVZoo nothing to send back. The sale arrives with no click to match.
  2. The tid holds the raw macro. If the postback shows {clickid} or a similar placeholder in place of a value, your landing page never filled it in before the visitor clicked out.
  3. The click ID is too long or has the wrong characters. Check it against JVZoo's limits above, and move long ones to a sub ID.
  4. The buyer came through a different link. JVZoo works on "last cookie gets the sale", so a later click on another affiliate's link takes the commission. JVZoo's Commission Guard asks the buyer to confirm when the referrer changes suspiciously.
  5. You promoted an upsell link. Send only the front-end link, so the buyer enters the funnel where your approval starts.
  6. The postback didn't fire. Check it's Active, that the product is in its scope, and that a filter didn't skip the sale. The call log shows each call with its HTTP code, Success, Failed or Skipped, and the full URL that was called.
  7. Refunds never arrive on a CPA offer. JVZoo's guide says CPA campaigns don't fire refund postbacks. On revenue share, refunds come back with {transaction_type} set to RFND.

Tracking JVZoo commissions in ElasticFunnels

If your presell and landing pages are in ElasticFunnels, the click and the commission meet in one place. The setup is the JVZoo affiliate S2S postback integration:

  • The click code goes out in tid. Your outbound JVZoo link carries the ElasticFunnels click code of the visit, so the commission can find its way back to it.
  • Two URLs to paste in JVZoo: a Conversion URL for sales and a Refund URL for refunds. Each postback brings your commission, the transaction ID, the buyer's email and the product title.
  • A raw macro is caught. When tid comes back unfilled, the postback is skipped and a high-priority action is added to your account, so you hear about it before the month's numbers are off.
  • Commissions on the page that earned them. Run a split test of up to 5 presell variants under one URL and compare them on commissions, by UTM source, device and country. With the Meta Ads or Google Ads postback on, a commission from an ad click goes back to that platform. If you use RedTrack, JVZoo affiliate sales reach it too.
  • Kept apart from your own customers. Affiliate commissions don't start customer automations or go to a call center.

If you build the pages before the offer, the affiliate landing page guide covers the presell types and the network rules. Selling your own product on JVZoo as well? That's the vendor JVZIPN setup, a separate integration.

My take
  • Set up the postback before the first click, not after the first payout. A sale that arrived with no tid can't be matched to its ad afterwards.
  • Keep refunds in the postback. Commission minus refunds per ad is the number you scale on; gross commission flatters the worst traffic.
  • Open the postback log once a week, even when the numbers look right. A Skipped or Failed line is easier to fix on day one than on day thirty.
  • If a product disappears from JVZoo while your ads still run, the Affiliate Redirect URL in Affiliate Settings sends that traffic to a backup page instead of a dead one.

JVZoo affiliate marketing is simple to start and easy to fly blind in. One tid on every link and one postback with refunds in it turn JVZoo's commission report into numbers you can run ads on.

FAQ

JVZoo affiliate FAQ

Is the JVZoo affiliate program free?

Yes. JVZoo's FAQ says affiliates pay nothing to join and no monthly fee. You earn only when a product you promote sells, and commissions are paid through JVZooPay.

How do I get approved as a JVZoo affiliate?

Request each product you want to promote, and its vendor approves or denies you. Some vendors auto-approve affiliates they know, and JVZoo's Premium Affiliates, chosen on sales and refund history, can be approved instantly. Approval on the front end covers the whole funnel.

How much commission do JVZoo affiliates earn?

Each vendor sets their own rate. JVZoo's FAQ says 50% to 75% is common on digital products. Some offers pay a fixed amount per sale (CPA) instead of a percentage.

When does JVZoo pay affiliates?

On your JVZooPay level: every 3 days at Diamond, 5 at Platinum, 7 at Gold, every 2 weeks at Silver and every 3 weeks at Bronze, where new accounts start. Silver and Bronze also hold a rolling reserve, and new accounts are reviewed before the first payout.

What is tid on a JVZoo link?

Your tracking ID as an affiliate. Add ?tid= and a short label or a click ID to the end of your affiliate link, and JVZoo reports sales per tid and sends it back in your postbacks. vtid is the vendor's version, for their own buy buttons.

How do I set up a JVZoo postback?

In My Account, Account Details, Affiliate Settings, click Manage S2S Postbacks and add one. Choose Purchase, paste your tracker's URL with {tid} and {affiliate_amount} in it, set it Active and pick the products it covers. Each call then shows in the postback's log.

Why is my JVZoo sale not showing in my tracker?

Usually the tid: it was missing from the link, still held a raw placeholder, or the click ID was too long for it. After that, check that a later click on another affiliate's link didn't take the sale, that you promoted the front-end link, and what the postback log says.

Is JVZoo legit for affiliates?

JVZoo has operated since 2011 and pays commissions through JVZooPay on a published schedule. Product quality varies by vendor, so check an offer's refund rate and sales page before you send traffic, because refunds take commissions back.
