Upsell and downsell

One click, no second checkout

An upsell link charges the card from the first purchase. A decline link moves on, or goes straight to a downsell product.

  • [UPSELL=code] accepts the offer in one click
  • [UPSELL_DECLINE=code] declines into a downsell
  • [UPSELL_UPGRADE=old, new] swaps a product for a bigger one
  • Subscription upsells on the same card

FAQ

Upsells and order bumps FAQ

What is a one-click upsell?

An offer shown right after the first purchase that the customer accepts with one click. The card they just entered is charged again, with no second checkout form.

What is an order bump?

A small add-on offered on the checkout itself, usually a checkbox next to the order summary. The customer adds it to the order before paying.

What is a downsell?

A cheaper alternative shown when a customer declines an upsell, such as three bottles instead of six. In ElasticFunnels a decline link can point straight at the downsell product.

How do I set up an upsell flow?

Put upsell and decline links on your offer pages, then connect each page's On Purchase and On Decline points in the funnel builder to the next upsell, a downsell or the thank-you page.

What happens if someone opens the upsell page directly?

A one-click upsell needs an active purchase session. Without one, the upsell link sends the visitor to the checkout instead, so nobody is charged without entering a card.

How do I know if my upsells work?

Analytics show the upsell take rate and upsell sales, including upsell take rate by main product, next to revenue and AOV.
