Braintree is PayPal's card gateway, common with subscription brands and marketplaces. Keep your Braintree account and sell on checkout pages you build in ElasticFunnels: Hosted Fields take the card, and the Braintree vault pays for upsells and renewals.

What the Braintree integration does
Three Braintree iframes (card number, expiry, security code) sit in your checkout's card panel. Braintree turns the card into a one-time nonce, and ElasticFunnels charges that nonce with your API keys.
- The first sale saves the card to your Braintree vault, where you can see it in the Control Panel
- Accepted upsells charge the vaulted card in one click, and renewals go to Braintree marked as recurring
- Put a merchant account ID on the merchant to settle in that account's currency
- A dispute opened on a Braintree payment shows on the order, and a settlement decline marks the sale voided
- Braintree can run on one checkout domain while Stripe, NMI or Authorize.net run on another, with the same funnel pages

How to connect Braintree
Refunds made inside the Braintree Control Panel do not reach ElasticFunnels, because Braintree sends no webhook for them. Refund from the order page instead.
Find your Braintree keys
In the Braintree Control Panel, open the gear icon and copy the merchant ID, the public and private API keys and a tokenization key.
Add Braintree under Merchants
In Settings → Merchants, click Add Merchant, pick Braintree and paste the merchant ID, public key, private key and tokenization key for sandbox or live. ElasticFunnels sends Braintree a test call before it saves.
Create the webhook
Copy the webhook URL from the saved merchant into API → Webhooks in Braintree and tick Dispute Opened and Transaction Settlement Declined.
Pick it on your checkout
Set the merchant on your checkout domain or funnel, then pay with the Braintree sandbox card 4111 1111 1111 1111.

How does Braintree work on an ElasticFunnels checkout?
The card panel loads Braintree Hosted Fields. When the buyer submits, Braintree returns a single-use nonce in the browser, and ElasticFunnels charges it through your account.
Which Braintree keys do I need?
The merchant ID, the public key, the private key and a tokenization key, all from the gear icon in the Control Panel. The merchant account ID is optional and picks which of your Braintree merchant accounts settles the sale.
Do one-click upsells work with Braintree?
Yes. The card from the first sale is saved in your Braintree vault, and an accepted upsell charges it without a second card form.
Can I take PayPal through my Braintree account?
Add PayPal as its own merchant and show it as a tab next to the card form. The Braintree merchant takes cards.
Can I refund a Braintree order before it settles?
In full. Before settlement, ElasticFunnels voids the sale so the buyer is never charged. Partial refunds work once Braintree has settled the payment.
Does Braintree send chargebacks to ElasticFunnels?
Yes, with the webhook in place. A Dispute Opened event is booked on the order as a chargeback.
What happens if I sell in a currency my Braintree account does not settle in?
The charge is voided at once and the buyer sees a payment error. Each Braintree merchant account settles in one currency, so add one ElasticFunnels merchant per Braintree merchant account if you sell in several.
What does ElasticFunnels charge on Braintree payments?
A 0.5% processing fee on revenue that runs through gateways ElasticFunnels operates, Braintree included. Braintree bills its own fees separately.
